Dominic ‘FRIDOM’ Fritsche

Dominic Fritsche goes by the artist name FRIDOM, he is a multi-disciplined artist and designer who's work is often inspired by different cultures and stories from the past. FRI.DOM was born and raised in Switzerland to a Kiwi mum and Swiss dad. He was fortunate to be introduced to many different people and their cultures from a young age. From early 2018, FRI.DOM has undertaken a journey to deepen his understanding about New Zealand / Māori culture by learning Whakairo (traditional carving) at Te Wananga o Aotearoa. 

He aims to create work that is both aesthetically pleasing and functional, while continuing the tradition of carrying strong narrative.
